09.07.05. Day 2 of Athens World Cup Races and it was C1's day for the men and K1 day foer women. With all competitives find it hard not to lose precious time in no15 ferry, we enjoyed a good show, both in semifinals and finals. For women, the course proved to be more tricky than expected, as we saw a couple of them missing lines and getting 50 points penalties.
At the end of the day, Wieczorek from Poland, found himself with the gold medal, while Bell from Australia and Jesek from Czech Rep. took 2nd and 3rd place, leaving yesterday's leader, Slovenian Stevanovic off the podium. In women, Hilgertova ruled for one more time, leaving Dukatova from Slovakia second, while Mandy Planert won the bronze medal. Again, yesterday's no1, German Bongardt ranked 4th, when only 3 minutes before the end, the three german paddlers were in no1 to 3.

10.07.05. Day 3 of the world cup races had no real surprises. Paddlers had already spotted the tricky places of the course, from yesterday's runs, so it was more like an anxious race against the clock race. It was the nervousness that forced many athletes into mistakes, even at the easier upper part of the course.
In men's K1, Lefevre marked a great time of 87.49 sec at the semifinals and with another good run at the finals assured his gold medal. Italian Molmenti ranked 2nd and Peter Kauzer, stayed with the medals, taking the bronze back home to Slovenia. British silver Olympian, Cambell Walsh, even his great run at the finals, stayed 4th overall, followed by Canadian David Ford. Not a good day for Benoit Peschier, the golden Olympian who ranking 22nd, lost his chance to a final run.
In C2, we had an unusual incident with the German duo of Piersig and Michel, who droped one of their paddle. Even one-paddled, the Germans tried to finish the run, hand-paddling, but even they had the crowd on their side, couldn't make the dubious ferry at no15. French crew of Quemerais and Lepennec lead the semifinal run, but with 10 points of penalty at the finals, they finished 10th, leaving the medals to the usual Slovakian suspects: the Hochschorners, who took the silver one this time and the Skanters who took the bronze. Gold medalists awarded, the Czech crew of Volf and Stepanek.
